The Planetary Health Alliance is using the Hylo platform to facilitate connections and collaborations within the global planetary health community. It is free and open to the community, and we encourage researchers, policymakers, educators, students, community leaders, and other interested individuals to share content, pose questions, and seek advice.
To Get Started:
Step 1: Create a profile. Input your email and password, or log in through Google, Facebook, LinkedIn.
Step 2: Follow the prompts on your screen. Upload a profile picture, add your location to find people in your area, and share your skills (i.e. communication, education).
Step 2: List your skills. This will appear on your profile and allow others in the community to easily find you. Include anything relevant to your interests or work.
Step 3: Build your member profile. Click on the silhouette icon on the top right and go to “settings.”Add your bio, link to your social media accounts and website, and adjust any other information.
Step 4: Adjust your notifications. Navigate back to "settings" and choose "notifications" on the left side. Choose how you would like to receive email digests and notifications.
Step 5: Follow topics. New members automatically follow all topics, which are essentially trending hashtags that filter the conversation. They can be viewed in the left sidebar on the main page, and if you click on “see all” at the bottom, you can see other ones that you can follow or unfollow.
Step 6: Install the mobile app. This will give you the option for push notifications about new direct messages and comments.Step 7: Read through posts. To get back to the main homepage at any time, click on "Home" on the top left, where you will be directed to the main landing page with a comprehensive list of all the posts in the community. You can adjust the length or number of posts by following or unfollowing certain topics. If you would like to see only the posts within a single topical area, click on that topic from the left sidebar or on a post with that hashtag.
