The Planetary Health Alliance, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, American Geophysical Union, Wellcome Trust, The Lancet Planetary Health, International Development Research Centre, and Future Earth, organized the second Planetary Health Annual Meeting in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Building on the successful inaugural Planetary Health Meeting in Boston, the second meeting brought together new communities around the world to stimulate transdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration towards groundbreaking solutions to Planetary Health challenges. The conference attracted more than 450 participants from over 40 countries, with 175 students and 100 participants from low- and middle-income countries in attendance. Sessions examined how the health impacts of various global environmental changes manifest in regional settings, highlighting emerging responses to Planetary Health issues. Attendees engaged with researchers, policymakers, planners, and local communities experiencing Planetary Health to co-create tailored policies built on action-focused research and innovations across sectors.
