Leia-Rece Boney
Planetary Health Promotion Intern
Leia-Rece Boney is the Planetary Health Promotion Intern at the Planetary Health Alliance. Her work explores the intersections of health policy, health communication, and environmental health. She is passionate about advancing equitable and sustainable approaches to health by bridging disciplines and fostering collaboration across communities, policymakers, and researchers.
Leia-Rece is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Public Health Studies at Johns Hopkins University. She aspires to continue her work at the nexus of women’s health and Planetary Health ensuring that policies and practices support both human well-being and the environment. She has conducted comparative research on maternal care practices across four different countries, examining how cultural and systemic factors shape women’s health outcomes. At Johns Hopkins University, she also served as the Director of Sustainability for a student-led menstrual health organization, where she led initiatives to integrate environmentally responsible practices into reproductive health advocacy and education.
In her personal time, Leia enjoys exploring global cultures through languages, visiting the beach, and visiting museums.
