Purity BusenaWe use performing arts, cultural traditions, and collective memory to bring healing to our relationship with the environment. Because this is not only a land that has been exploited, it's a people who have been separated from their roots.
Co-founder of Dream Hatch Kenya, speaking in the Planetary Health in the Arts webinar series on ecological belonging and social healing in a community fractured by mining.
As we celebrate 10 years since the launch of the Planetary Health field, we are entering a new era of alignment and action. This month, the Annual Review of Environment and Resources 2025 places Planetary Health at the forefront, synthesizing a decade of evidence and underscoring a vital truth: the Earth crisis is a health crisis. Yet it also reminds us that solutions—rooted in justice, resilience, and systemic change—are within reach.
To carry this vision forward, the Planetary Health Alliance is proud to launch a new Planetary Boundaries webpage and taxonomy, designed to make the connections between Earth system change and human health more accessible than ever. Explore how these resources can guide action toward a future where both people and planet flourish.
To celebrate a decade of Planetary Health, we’re spotlighting PHA member organizations driving change worldwide. First up: Mongabay, a global environmental news platform that recently launched a dedicated Pollutants Desk to uncover how plastics, chemicals, and other invisible contaminants threaten Planetary Health.
This month, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Nicky Christensen, Communications Manager for the past three years, and Jessica Amaya-Torres, Planetary Health Promotion Intern, for their inspiring contributions to Planetary Health. We wish you both every success in your next adventures! At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome Hannah Blair, our new Communications and Marketing Manager, and Jussarang Lee, Communications Intern. We look forward to working with you as we continue to advance our mission and amplify Planetary Health around the world!
