Juan Jose Guzman Ayala
2023 PHCAJuan Jose is an economist and sustainable development professional who has worked at the intersection of policy, finance and climate justice in the Global South for the past couple of years. He is currently pursuing a dual degree, Master in Public Health and Master in Public Administration, focusing on understanding the nexus between health and economic systems with climate and nature-related risks. He is the co-founder of youth climate activist organization Pacto X El Clima in Colombia, and has worked with international organizations such as the World Bank and the Gates Foundation, as well as with banks and insurance companies and large corporate actors, on developing just climate strategies for adaptation and mitigation in areas such as agriculture. In 2023, he will be focusing on the climate-health nexus from the standpoint of indigenous health, finance and nutrition. He is also an avid runner, podcaster and a student of ethnobotany.
