UCSF’s Institute for Global Health Sciences (IGHS) is a pioneer and innovator in academic global heath, with a deep commitment to improving the health of marginalized communities. In the climate and health space, IGHS works with low- and middle-income countries to drive innovation in the health sector’s response to climate change to build greater resilience to and minimize the negative health impacts of climate change. IGHS has over two decades of experience in landscaping and assessing innovative financing strategies for a number of global health areas including HIV, malaria and TB, and supporting resource mobilization efforts for emerging health sector priorities.

By joining the Planetary Health Alliance, UNITE is hoping to bring its 300 plus network of parliamentarians closer to the topic of Planetary Health, and its concerning issues, to enable them to express their views, inputs and experience in a productive and constructive manner, and understand how can they make use of their position as policymakers to advance laws and regulations on Planetary Health. The Virsa Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 MA nonprofit which promotes the awareness of various intersectional issues pertaining to public and planetary health via behavioral research, coalitioning & campaigning for policy change and by creating multimedia advocacy content, especially for BIPOC communities in the United States, South Asia and elsewhere in the Global South. We invite collaborations with the planetary health community in the form of networking, advisory support and funding opportunities for behavioral research.

The IDEC Institute, Hiroshima University aims to establish a global interdisciplinary research center that links the disciplines of research on peace, science, engineering, agriculture and health sciences. For tackling various Planetary Health issues, we will implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the aspect of education and research by promoting flexible and innovative transdisciplinary research and providing a place for technological innovation.

The Ocean Research & Conservation Association’s mission aligns with the Planetary Health Alliance’s commitment to understanding and addressing global environmental change and its health impacts. Specifically, we are focused on how anthropogenic nonpoint source pollution has accumulated in the environment to the point that it is impacting the health of humans and animals. Working in collaboration with the Planetary Health community, our goal is to understand and mitigate the health impacts of pollution, while simultaneously working to stop the pollution at its source.

Swansea Action for Sustainable Healthcare (SWASH) is a Swansea University society that works with health board medical professionals and medical school staff with the aim to reduce the environmental impact of education and healthcare. We assess this impact yearly via meetings with local healthcare professionals and analysis of our Planetary Health Report Card result which enables us to set goals to improve certain areas such as research and community outreach. Over the years we have run campaigns, research projects, sustainable prescribing locally, passed British Medical Association (BMA) motions regarding our curriculum, virtual networking and educational conferences / webinars. We look forward to collaborate within the Planetary Health Community and aim to network with other members, educate ourselves further on novel sustainable healthcare practice, find new opportunities for future initiatives and present our most current projects progression.
