This collaboration aims to harness our collective expertise, resources, and networks to effectively address the complex interconnections between human health and environmental sustainability. Through initiatives such as the “Green Ambassadors Program,” we intend to engage local communities in advocating for sustainable practices that enhance public health and promote environmental stewardship.
In turn, we look forward to benefiting from the PHA’s extensive knowledge base, access to cutting-edge research, and opportunities for joint projects that will enhance our impact in Somalia and the broader Horn of Africa. Together, we aspire to contribute meaningfully to the global discourse on Planetary Health, fostering innovative solutions that tackle pressing challenges such as climate change, health disparities, and socio-economic development.

The Sankandi Youth Development Association (SYDA) is a registered charitable association in rural Gambia, it has grassroots project based in the Kiang West of The Gambia, in West Africa, and is focused on restoring the native mangrove forests and empower the rural communities. Our Mission is to help and enhance development of rural communities in Gambia while protecting the environment. Our Community Mangrove Conservation and Restoration Project involves planting mangrove propagules in degraded former mangrove forest in rural Gambia through community participations. We aim to collaborate with PHA to better make us in position to effectively contribute to protection of planet through planting and protecting trees through research.

The Department of Public Health and Infectious Diseases, Sapienza University of Rome, as a member of the Planetary Health Alliance, will contribute to Planetary Health in the fields of education and research on the following issues: 1) providing a comprehensive educational program for students of the Faculties of Medicine and Sciences; 2) introducing innovative research in these fields; 3) giving an annual report on climate change to the Decision Makers at the regional and National level.

The Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) is a leading transformational force for health equity in policy, leadership development, and research. SHLI enhances leadership among diverse learners, conducts forward-thinking research on the drivers of health inequities, and advances evidence-based policies; all in an effort to contribute to the achievement of health equity for all population groups. SHLI continues efforts in informing climate change, Planetary Health and environmental justice policy and advocacy through a health equity lens. We advocate for the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.

The Savannah Chatham Sustainability Coalition will incorporate Planetary Health into our communication and community engagements via our collaboration with local government, businesses, creative community and organizations with environmental, social, health, and economic projects.

The School of Health Sciences at the University of Manchester recognises that our changing climate and declining planetary health have major implications for human physical and mental health around the globe. By joining the Planetary Health Alliance we seek to strengthen our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment, to enhance our efforts at educating the next generation of healthcare practitioners about these issues, and to further research into the interactions between planetary and personal health.

The School of Public Health (SPH) at SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRMIST), Chennai, India launched a novel program called the University Wellness Program in 2019, to promote wellness of key university stakeholders and environmental sustainability of campus. This program may be relevant to the PHA. Modules on environmental health, Planetary Health, wellness are a part of the UG and PG programs of SPH. SRMIST has 50000 students and 3500 faculty from >50 departments. SPH partners with the university departments and other organizations. We are interested in the PHA network to collaborate and contribute to sustainable programs for Planetary Health. We look forward to student/ faculty exchanges, research projects as well as thought leadership/ policy and governance actions.

To further this vision, we inform people around the world about population, health, and the environment. We also empower people to use this information to advance the well-being of current and future generations.

One of our projects, Trusted Messengers for Sustainability, plans to use the confidence that citizens place in health professionals to transform them in ambassadors of change for the benefit of citizen’s personal health and of the planet’s colective health. We would like to partner with people and organizations that share this same view and/or have already experience in this domain. We pledge to cooperate with all PHA members and to share our knowledge and results in the field.

PODA has been working for the promotion and protection of human rights in rural areas of Pakistan since 2003. PODA’s vision is of a democratic society based on gender equity, economic justice, and human rights where all citizens can enjoy the “Right to Development.” PODA also works on awareness and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). PODA’s mission is to build a peaceful society by facilitating the empowerment of rural women, youth and marginalized groups through programs in education, sustainable livelihood skills, legal literacy and human rights advocacy.

Our Mission is “to promote, lead transdisciplinary field of Planetary Health and its diverse science, solutions, and communities to achieve SDGs” Our concepts and aims are to 1) encourage and empower public health with a diverse health community that crosses disciplines of health sciences; 2) to facilitate the education and training of young generation through the development and open-access resources, mentorship and leadership opportunities, and programs from primary to university levels; and 3) to promote actionable steps for Planetary Health sciences, implementation and solutions through public outreach and engagement with stakeholders.

Primate Conservation Alliance, founded and led by Colin Chapman, attempts to promote primate conservation globally. We focus on the union between human health and conservation, as providing health services and conservation education to local communities bordering parks is a win-win effort. We focus on Kibale National Park in Uganda and are expanding our efforts to China and Mexico.

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is dedicated to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development on a global scale. The Foundation supports initiatives of public and private organizations, in the fields of research and studies, technological innovation and socially-aware practices. The Foundation supports projects in three main geographical zones and focuses its efforts focus on three main areas.

For more than 30 years, the National Institute of Public Health has been a leader in the generation of knowledge, teaching and the creation of policies in environmental health. This includes topics such as air pollution, exposure to pesticides, water pollution, climate change, sustainable food systems, among others. Currently, through the Special Program on Planetary Health, work is being done to establish the areas of Planetary Health in the institute, with the implementation of key activities in research, teaching, public policies, advocacy and university outreach to contribute to the exercise of the right to human health and a healthy environment within the framework of equity and sustainability. In addition, we seek to collaborate with the PHA to generate networks, share experiences and support the dissemination of the topic of Planetary Health to help address the current situation of environmental degradation and prevent the transgression of the planetary boundaries.
