Building a Digital Media Hub for Planetary Health and Environmental Justice in MENA
HEECO Planet is a digital media platform advancing Planetary Health by producing science-based content and initiatives that connect climate, environment, and public health—empowering communities across North Africa and the Middle East to take informed, just, and sustainable action.
HEECO Planet is a digital media platform dedicated to advancing Planetary Health—the understanding that human well-being is inseparable from the health of Earth’s natural systems. Their platforms bring together specialized science journalists in health, environment, and climate, alongside academics, experts, and civil society actors, ensuring that their work is both scientifically grounded and socially relevant.
HEECO produces reliable, accessible, science-based content that highlights the critical connections between climate change, environmental degradation, and public health, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by vulnerable communities in North Africa and the Middle East. Their initiatives include multimedia awareness campaigns on climate-health impacts, digital actions to combat misinformation, training programs for journalists, and community outreach in climate-affected areas. Guided by core values—the right to health and information, environmental justice, scientific transparency, and community empowerment—HEECO Planet strives to bridge the gap between health and environmental sciences, inspire informed action, and promote evidence-based policy.
Through partnerships with experts, youth, NGOs, and media organizations, HEECO Planet aims to become a leading regional reference for Planetary Health, empowering societies in North Africa and the Middle East to protect both people and the planet for a sustainable future.

The Clima Move project has achieved a distinguished position among the best youth innovative projects in the North African region, thanks to its idea that combines technology and creativity to provide youthful solutions for climate adaptation and climate mobility in Algeria and North Africa. The experience came after three months of intensive workshops, followed by three days of teamwork, participated by 35 young leaders from 22 countries from different parts of Africa. During the workshop, young people worked to turn #climate change challenges into opportunities for innovation and resilience building in their communities. The workshop concluded with a project presentation competition in front of a professional jury, where our project Clima Move distinguished as one of the most prominent winning projects in the North African region
