As the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) convenes November 10-21 in Belém, Brazil, the Planetary Health community will advocate for human well-being—rooted in the health of Earth’s natural systems—through initiatives, campaigns, and activities leading up to and during the summit.

Global Philanthropies Commit $300 Million To Accelerate Solutions on Climate and Health

Over 35 leading philanthropies unite to address the escalating public health crisis driven by climate change — which puts at least 3.3 billion people at risk, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. The Climate and Health Funders Coalition has committed an initial $300 million for integrated action to tackle both the causes of climate change and its consequences for health – accelerating solutions where they are needed most.

Put Health at the Heart of Climate Action

Join the Healthy Planet Now initiative and Global Climate and Health Alliance (GCHA) in urging global leaders to put health at the heart of climate action in COP30 negotiations and NDC implementation. 

More than 170 organisations, experts and activists worldwide have signed the Health Planet Now Open Letter calling on governments and ministers to put health at the heart of climate action and raise the ambition on this critical policy intersection. Sign here.

The Healthy Planet Now programme at COP30 will build on the open letter, equip audiences to tell their climate-health story, and transform the climate narrative.

Educating for a Healthy Planet and People: Strengthening Partnerships on the Road to COP30 brought together global experts, youth, and Indigenous leaders to explore how education can drive climate action and planetary health ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil. Co-hosted by the Planetary Health Alliance, University of São Paulo, Planetary Health Brazil Network, and Learning for Sustainability Scotland, the event highlighted the power of education to equip societies with the knowledge and values needed for a sustainable and equitable future
