During this session, Dr. Faerron Guzmán will present key insights from his recent paper, “Planetary Health: Focusing on the Intersection of Human Health and the Earth System.” In particular, he will explore emerging solutions and approaches in planetary health. Moreover, the talk will highlight how integrated strategies can address the interconnected challenges affecting both human and environmental systems.

About the Speaker
Dr. Carlos A. Faerron Guzmán is a Costa Rican physician and educator specializing in global and planetary health. Currently, he serves as Director of Global Health Programs and Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Graduate School. In addition, he is Director of the InterAmerican Center for Global Health in Costa Rica and a Senior Advisor to the Planetary Health Alliance at Johns Hopkins University.

Furthermore, he holds adjunct positions at Northwestern University, Harvard University, and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Spain. He is also a fellow of the Central American Healthcare Initiative and a visiting scholar at ISGlobal in Barcelona. Overall, his work focuses on health equity, global environmental change, and transformative education.
