Director of Leadership Giving


Virginia Comer is the Director of Leadership Giving for the Planetary Health Alliance and the Johns Hopkins Institute for Planetary Health, where she leads fundraising efforts to accelerate discovery and activate solutions to safeguard health on a rapidly changing planet. She brings a strong track record of building meaningful philanthropic partnerships and advancing strategic communications across nationally recognized organizations.

Prior to joining the Institute, Virginia held development roles with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, The Land Trust for Tennessee, and Cheekwood Estate & Gardens. Her experience includes shaping major gift strategies, strengthening donor relationships, and managing high-profile fundraising initiatives. She brings a collaborative approach to fundraising, with experience in CRM systems and partnering closely with organizational leadership to advance mission-driven priorities.

Virginia was born in New Orleans and raised along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she developed a deep appreciation for the natural world. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Auburn University.
