Planetary Health Education Action Plan Working Group
In September 2024, PHA convened the Planetary Health Education Action Plan Working Group to take the next ambitious steps in Educating for the Great Transition, as outlined in the Planetary Health Roadmap.
More than 30 educators from across the globe came together to advance four key workstreams:
Global Nature of Planetary Health Video Storytelling Project
This project showcases diverse perspectives on global environmental crises and highlights the interconnectedness of Planetary Health challenges. Stories are organized into three themes: Personal Experiences, Awakenings, and Planetary Health Success Stories. They aim to show that the global environmental crisis is not an abstract scientific concept but a reality affecting health, families, and communities. These stories are designed to spark constructive conversations about shared Planetary Health challenges, even in polarized settings, and they also serve as powerful education resources that can be used in classrooms and beyond.
A hands-on resource that helps educators translate Planetary Health concepts and scientific evidence into clear, actionable policy briefs. The toolkit is designed to bridge research and decision-making, empowering educators to influence policy and drive change.
These webinars were created to be inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to educators across disciplines and geographies. They introduced the foundations of the Planetary Health framework, shared open-access teaching resources, and gathered input from participants to inform future educational initiatives.
Instead of offering lesson plans, this resource emphasizes the pedagogy and guiding principles of Planetary Health education. It is meant to complement—not replace—the Planetary Health Education Framework, ensuring close alignment with its core threads.
