Securing a just and healthy future for all: Bringing a planetary health lens to the Earth System Governance research framework. Earth System Governance.
Workman et al. (April 2025) conducted a literature review to assess how a Planetary Health perspective is integrated into the Earth System Governance (ESG) framework and to develop a research agenda for advancing Planetary Health within ESG. Their findings highlight significant gaps in the literature regarding governance’s role in Planetary Health, with existing research instead focusing on topics such as food systems, land use change, climate change, post-pandemic opportunities, and Planetary Health-related curriculum and research. Based on these insights, the researchers propose a research agenda that prioritizes stewardship and diverse ways of knowing to enhance governance effectiveness.
