Yasmina Ahdab
Communications Specialist

Yasmina Ahdab is the Communications Specialist at the Planetary Health Alliance. Her work focuses on the intersection of environmental conservation and science communication. Yasmina strives to advocate regenerative and humane approaches to Planetary Health by fostering collaboration between scientists, policymakers, and the public through digital media and behavior change campaigns.

With a transdisciplinary background in wildlife ecology and digital communications, Yasmina began her career as a scientific researcher. She conducted research in various locations, including Puerto Rico, South Africa, and Virginia, to investigate conservation threats to local wildlife and human populations. Beyond her scientific pursuits, Yasmina's journey led her to serve as a communications professional across diverse organizations. Notably, she co-founded Free and Fair Lebanon, a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging Lebanese diaspora members to vote for positive change.

By developing an educational blog and translating political information from Arabic to English, Yasmina played a pivotal role in engaging and mobilizing 142,000 diaspora voters, resulting in the election of 13 new independent parliament members.

Yasmina holds a Bachelor’s degree from New York University and two Master's degrees—one in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Research from Imperial College London, and one in Communications from Johns Hopkins University. In her personal time, Yasmina loves to photograph wildlife, backpack around Appalachia, and belt out rock tunes.
