Culture and Values

Arts and storytelling will be driving forces for the Great Transition. Focusing on values and seeking strength from spirituality can help us collectively create a future in which all can thrive.

Earthrise Community

Earthrise is a contemplative community inspiring spiritual and cultural transformation for a new era of planetary consciousness, co-creating new narratives and deepening emotional and spiritual connections for meaningful change. We provide a visionary space to nurture action rooted in love and kindness, wisdom and compassion, hope and faith—understanding that meaningful change is driven as much by the heart of our shared humanity as by logic alone.

Constellation Project

The Constellation Project offers a series of writings and videos that bring diverse voices at the intersection of science, humanities, faith traditions, Indigenous wisdom, and the arts.

Wholeness, Faith, and Planetary Health

Every faith tradition views life as interconnected, woven together in a delicate balance of body, mind, spirit, and environment. This embodies a holistic approach to wholeness that acknowledges and addresses the intertwined dimensions of a person’s existence. It involves meeting their mental, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical needs to foster a balanced and flourishing life. This concept highlights that a genuinely whole person can thrive only when all these dimensions are nurtured harmoniously, recognising the inherent dignity and worth of every human being.

We Are the Possible

Harnessing the power of storytelling, We Are the Possible uses a transdisciplinary approach to prompt action for Planetary Health. Starting at COP26, they have presented anthologies of poetry and stories, co-created by climate scientists, health professionals, youth, artists, educators, and storytellers across the world to show what’s at stake and what we value most in our changing planet. In 2024, PHA partnered with We Are the Possible to co-host a webinar for members of the global network to contribute words and art woven together into The Land of Fire, a collection of 12 stories developed for COP29. Other initiatives include theater, Schools Across the Ocean, and more.

The Power of a Drawing

Creative tools have the power to spark curiosity, ignite meaningful conversations, foster empathy, and propel the global Planetary Health movement. Cartoonists Hameed Khan and Eugenia Roja brought this spirit to life at the 2024 Planetary Health Annual Meeting and in workshops that inspired The Land of Fire—an anthology of 12 stories for the 12 days of COP29.

Below is a selection of their thought-provoking cartoons, capturing questions, reflections, and aspirations shaping the future of Planetary Health.
