Planetary Health Annual Meeting 2027, co-hosted by the Planetary Health Alliance and the Japan Hub, will be held June 7-11 at the University of Tokyo.

The Planetary Health Alliance and the Planetary Health Japan Hub are proud to announce that the Planetary Health Annual Meeting 2027 (PHAM 2027) will take place at the University of Tokyo campus from June 7-11.

The meeting will commemorate a decade of annual meetings and bring together participants from around the world for keynotes, sessions exploring key themes in Planetary Health, poster pitches, lightning talks, and immersive pre-conference excursions throughout Tokyo. Esteemed speakers from around the world will share groundbreaking insights, while participants connect through cutting-edge research, creative arts, dynamic discussions, and vibrant social gatherings.

Can I submit an abstract?

Yes. PHAM welcomes submissions for 2 types of abstracts:

  • Research study abstracts and
  • Education, Community, Art, or Policy Project abstracts

Where will my abstract be shared?

The Lancet Planetary Health will publish a limited number of the highest-scoring research abstracts in a special Planetary Health issue. The final number of abstracts will be decided by The Lancet Planetary Health.

When will the call for abstracts open?

Abstracts will be accepted from July 2026 – September 14, 2026.  This information will also be on the conference website soon.

How will I know if my abstract is accepted?

Authors will receive notification via email after the review process is complete by early January.

Will accepted abstracts be published?

All accepted abstracts may be published in conference materials or affiliated publications.

Where will PHAM take place?

Do I need a visa?

International attendees may require a visa depending on their country of residence. Please refer to the official Japan Tourism website here. Participants are encouraged to review travel requirements early.

Can PHAM provide invitation letters?

Yes. Invitation letters may be provided to registered attendees for visa purposes upon request.

What airport should I fly into?

Narita International Airport (NRT) and Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) (NHD) are both accessible to the Hongo Campus of the University of Tokyo, and there are many subway stations nearby.
