Planetary health is decisively shaped by human behaviour. Policy action should therefore be based on insights on how behaviour can be changed on individual and system levels to improve planetary health. The Institute for Planetary Health Behaviour can contribute by adding a behavioural science perspective to the Planetary Health Alliance. This can help to base societal discourse and policy making on a thorough understanding of how people actually behave and which levers increase individual and collective readiness to act against climate change.

PLANETIIUM will work together with industrial sector like business or social enterprises to tackle the sustainable well-being issues. At the same time, integrated knowledge of researchers from IIUM like in molecular, health, social sciences, arts, humanities, politic and spirituality will merge in PLANETIIUM to solve more problems concerning sustaining global health and well-being. PLANETIIUM also will work hand-to-hand with government and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to propose new guidelines, rules and regulations based on the latest research findings. Community will benefit from PLANETIIUM research activities, consultation, or knowledge of change programs to ensure the preparedness and resilience towards sustainable well-being. Eventually PLANETIIUM would be the institute that will contribute to sustainable Planetary Health which balances between human, animal, and environment ecosystems. The concept of being nature centric and people centric will enrich talent development of postgraduates that recognizes values-based research and academic excellence. Therefore, the shared vision of PLANETIIUM is to enhance values-based talent development and providing sustainable solutions (by being nature-centric and people-centric) for community and industry to attain sustainable well-being.

The mission of the Institute of Public Health (IPH) of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is to enhance the health and well-being of the population through excellence in public health education, research, community service, and evidence translation into better health policies and practices to prevent diseases, strengthen the health systems and promote the health of the UAE and the global population. Sustainability is one of the core principles of the UAEU and IPH is committed to contributing to an environmentally sustainable medical and public health practice based on principles of planetary health in collaboration with other members of the Planetary Health Alliance.

The Community Check-Up is a national organization focused on restructuring the climate crisis as a public health emergency through educational outreach and youth engagement. The Community Check-Up hopes to collaborate with the Planetary Health Alliance by encouraging youth we engage to join the Next Generation Network. In addition to this, the organization focuses on integration of planetary and environmental curricula in its community seminars, and it plans to collaborate with PHA by co-hosting workshops and events. The Community Check-Up will assist PHA in translating and adapting resources into various languages to be applied in different contexts.

Instituto Ideia Ambiental is dedicated to fostering Planetary Health at the local level by helping humanity recognize that our health is intrinsically dependent on our harmonious relationship with the natural environment. At Intake, our aim is to explicitly reflect the connections between agriculture, nutrition, and the environment in how we undertake our work and in the set of tools we develop to have the greatest sustained impact for both human and Planetary Health. The Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern University (ISEN) spans disciplines to advance transformative research, interdisciplinary education, and stakeholder engagement. For example, ISEN’s Program on Plastics, Ecosystems, and Public Health (PEPH) is a multi-institutional research network, while ISEN’s Ubben Program on Climate and Carbon Science addresses the impacts of climate change on interconnected systems, communities, and public health.

We are a network of health workers across Wales, in clinical and non-clinical roles that recognise the climate and ecological emergency is a health emergency. We aim to Connect, Learn & Transform; to connect across Wales, transcending geographical borders while supporting cross-departmental collaboration. We aim to learn more and empower everyone in the health and social care sector in Wales with the tools and knowledge to improve Planetary Health by transforming health and care to be climate smart and sustainable. We hope to learn more from the international community to help empower health workers in Wales with the knowledge to take action for Planetary Health.

Greener Practice is the UK primary care national sustainable healthcare network. We aim to empower primary care to transition to environmentally sustainable healthcare through a useful hub of information and resources for UK primary care and the development of local groups. We collaborate with other organisations engaged with our aims using all the resources in our network (such as offering education, coaching, leadership or collaboration on research/evaluation).

Greenish is an Egyptian Foundation founded in 2017, with a vision to improve the health and wellbeing of residents in the region. Greenish works to develop environmental balance through environmental Research, Advocacy, Capacity Building and Education (RACE). Our projects cover a multitude of aspects to promote planetary health through preserving and protecting natural systems and the interconnections with the health and well-being of all living things. Greenish aims to add to the ongoing work on planetary health through inclusive and meaningful multi-stakeholder, multi-generational dialogue rooted in localized knowledge and action.

The Environmental Futures Research Institute at Griffith University conducts research of global significance. EFRI’s Planetary Health Platform understands that human health and civilisation depend on flourishing natural systems and the wise stewardship of those natural systems. We recognise that collaboration and partnerships with industry, policy makers, and the scientific community are the basis of all research activities, fostering expanded perspectives and the power of broader expertise.

We work in this connection by doing the curriculum integration of climate change and healthcare curricula of the health professions, work with the higher education institutions to make them green and eco schools, work in the community to make them aware about the need to reduce the green house gas emissions and to reduce the carbon foot print from the community, and work among clinician to create knowledge and skills to become healthcare sustainable practitioners. Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine’s mission is to develop our students, residents, fellows, faculty, and healthcare environment to deliver the highest quality care for all, understanding that context, community, and behavior drive wellbeing. Environmental factors are one of the five foundational determinants of health that form the core of our educational framework. We have established an Environmental Health Working Group to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the existing curriculum, identify best practices for environmental health and climate change education across the spectrum of medical education, identify longitudinal content opportunities in all courses, support scholarship related to environmental determinants of health, explore collaboration within our healthcare system regarding sustainability initiatives, and provide support and guidance to the student special interest group on environmental health. We signed a 30 MW on-site solar deal worth $134 million in 2023 and tied executive compensation to Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission reduction. We actively meet with legislators on Capitol Hill advocating for policy around clean energy and have joined the Charme initiative furthering our engagement with Suppliers.
