Hasselt University, and its representative Centre for Environmental Sciences (CMK), integrates Planetary Health framework principles into research and teaching assignments. As a member of the Planetary Health Alliance, the CMK encourages faculty and student involvement in Planetary Health Alliance events and projects. The organization is open to set up collaborative projects to advance the field and create impact.

Haverford College has a long-standing commitment to putting learning into action for greater ethical purposes. In so doing, communities preserve their health, their livelihoods and their rainforests – the lungs of our planet. As a member of the Planetary Health Alliance, Health In Harmony contributes to Planetary Health research and education, and translates Planetary Health science into action through on-the-ground conservation and health solutions.

Healthy Energy Initiative India is a program of The Other Media in collaboration with Health Care Without Harm. HEI India works in the area of Climate and Health by mobilizing communities and health professionals to advocate for environmental health, clean air and clean energy. Our work focuses on providing legal, media and scientific research support to the residents of polluted communities and workers exposed to toxic chemicals. By working closely with the health departments of the sub-national regions of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Chhattisgarh, we focus on developing climate and environmental health policies and building health systems resilient to climate change, health research and action on air pollution. Planetary Health Alliance provides us with a wider opportunity to take our work to a global platform and help amplify the deep interconnections between health of the people and planet. So we would like to engage with the Planetary Health Alliance in the future.

Backed by the best available science and technical expertise, Helen Keller teams work with local partners across 14 countries of sub-Saharan Africa and 4 countries of South Asia and the Pacific to tackle malnutrition, neglected tropical diseases, and preventable blindness. We target health problems that disproportionally affect the world’s most vulnerable. Our Enhanced Homestead Food Production supports households to develop diversified plant and animal production systems to contribute to family health, but also uses techniques that enhance soils and habitat. The model has been evolving with new evidence over 30 years, and we are currently working to adapt it to be further regenerative of Planetary Health. Our neglected tropical disease program focuses largely on mass drug administration and we hope to engage more with prevention through understanding and mitigating environmental changes that drive vectors into contact with humans.

Seated at the crossroads of public health, the environment, and higher education, Herbicide-Free Campus (HFC) inspires university students to challenge the status quo and take action against practices harming both human and environmental health. Committed to ending our dependencies on synthetic herbicides and building a culture around safe and viable alternatives, HFC trains holistic environmental leaders to engage in direct action and community organizing on their campuses, in their communities, and across the nation. Integrating a Planetary Health approach, HFC strives to shift the way we manage landscapes, tend to the soil, and value the health of both the people and the planet alike.

Hope Ministries international through its network in Malawi and abroad will together, address planetary health challenges in Malawi with collaborative efforts from government, civil society, and international partners to ensure a sustainable future for all is achieved.

Humanity & Inclusion is an independent and impartial aid organisation working alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs; Working on the social determinants of health in the communities’ environment; Promoting the right to health and health equity as part of Human Rights; Strengthening the adaptive capacity and resilience of vulnerable communities heavily affected by the sudden and gradual effects of climate change and environmental degradation; Working for prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases and Emerging Infectious Diseases.

The Office of Community Partnerships and Global Health is a unit within Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Medicine. We have recently established a community of practice in Planetary Health and lead interdisciplinary education activities under this thematic area. We are interested in building new partnerships to advance research and education in Planetary Health.

Girawa is building open-access educational resources that puts nature at the heart of STEM education. With a focus on Planetary Health, we cover topics such as nutrition, infectious diseases, ecology and engineering. We aim to improve educational curricula and offer an alternative perspective to build better societies that embrace rather than destroy nature. We hope to disseminate resources to as many countries as possible, regardless of how developed they are, and to encourage all communities and countries to act in a unified manner. We also aim to inspire future generations to pursue careers, such as scientists, engineers and economists, focusing on solving our planet’s problems, and to empower them to enforce change in their communities and globally. We welcome collaborations with other Planetary Health organisations and academic institutions to improve the quality of our educational resources and to reach as many countries as possible.

Girls’ Pride Gambia is a hybrid organization that started in 2017 as a result of period poverty affecting girls’ education in The Gambia. We provide eco-friendly and reusable sanitary pads, train women, men and adolescent boys and girls on sexual and reproductive health and rights, conducts training of trainers, training on reusable pad production, and offers online and offline counseling services.
Girls’ Pride is working to address period poverty in low-income women and girls, keep girls in schools during their periods, promote maternal and child health, end gender-based violence, harmful traditional practices, and inequalities and reduce the amount of plastic waste that is generated during menstruation from single use sanitary pads and tampons.
We educate our community members on the importance of reusable and eco-friendly sanitary products and how they help us reduce our carbon footprints and protect our environment and waterbodies from plastic pollution.
We aim to collaborate with PHA to provide evidenced-based knowledge to Gambians especial women and girls on how climate change affects their health and how everyone can play their part in ensuring that we live in a healthy planet. We aim to do this through research, awareness raising and capacity building programs for communities.

GAHP’s goal is to reduce death and illness caused by all forms of toxic pollution, including air, water, soil and chemical wastes especially in low and middle-income countries. GAHP is working to improve Planetary Health for all by advocating on the global stage for increased attention and resources to prevent and mitigate pollution. GAHP also assists it members to take action to solve pollution problems on the ground. GAHP looks forward to engaging the Planetary Health network directly, enhancing and furthering outreach efforts to ensure a sustainable world for all generations.

The Global Collaboration on Traumatic Stress acknowledges that the climate crisis is adversely affecting population mental health. The impacts of the climate crisis on mental health are related to collective problems that are experienced unequally, such as insufficient political will and harmful policies, increased disaster exposure, poverty, violence, the erosion of important places and landscapes, and harms to human physical health and the health of ecosystems, along with others.

Working with populations most impacted by the climate crisis, research is needed to better understand and assess mental health in the context of the climate crisis and to identify and test appropriate intervention strategies.

We aim to collaborate to:

1. Provide conceptual clarity to the varied mental health responses to climate change,

2. Develop methods of assessing mental health in the context of climate change,

3. Develop appropriate intervention strategies with communities most impacted by climate change.

Global Consortium for Study on Prevention, Control and Management of Major Infectious Diseases (GCSMID) is a non-profit international academic network to promote academic research and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of prevention, control and management of major infectious diseases globally, provide scientific evidence on improvement of practice on prevention, control and management of major infectious diseases, promote the development of disciplines in this field, and support young scholars’ career development worldwide. As such, GCSMID, in collaboration with PHA, is committed to strengthening the presence of Planetary Health among academia, civil society, and the public and private sectors. It is our pleasure to join the PHA network to incorporate Planetary Health.

The GCCHE plans to incorporate Planetary Health along with climate and health into our work to ensure that 100% of health professionals are prepared and trained to respond to climate and environmental crisis. We plan to provide our member institutions with resources regarding Planetary Health and to incorporate Planetary Health into our training materials.

The Global Health Asia Institute (GHAI) is an action-oriented think tank hosted by the University of Mahidol (Faculty of Public Health). Located in Bangkok, the institute aims at balancing implementation and policy-oriented research, education and capacity building, sophisticated analysis and public outreach relating to cross-cutting sustainable development issues with a focus on health and environmental synergies.

Global Health Corps is building a powerful and diverse network of leaders who have the vision, tools and connections they need to transform systems. Planetary health is fundamentally entwined withhuman health: we cannot build healthy communities without a healthy planet. The Duke Global Health Institute, whose faculty were involved in the original Rockefeller Foundation-Lancet Commission on Planetary Health, integrates Planetary Health into multi-school research and coursework at Duke University. As a member of the Planetary Health Alliance, the Duke Global Health Institute encourages student and faculty involvement in Planetary Health Alliance events and projects.
