Founded in 1983, the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies is one of the world’s leading independent environmental research organizations. Areas of expertise include disease ecology, forest and freshwater health, climate change, urban ecology, and invasive species.

CIFOR is a non-profit, scientific institution that conducts research on the most pressing challenges of forest and landscape management around the world. Using a global, multidisciplinary approach, we aim to improve human well-being, protect the environment, and increase equity. To do so, we conduct innovative research, develop partners’ capacity, and actively engage in dialogue with all stakeholders to inform policies and practices that affect forests and people.

CPE works to advance Planetary Health and ensure a climate-resilient health delivery system in Bangladesh incorporating indigenous and scientific knowledge. CPE aims to collaborate with PHA through research, capacity building, advocacy campaigns, and education.

Research on Planetary Health advanced by the Center for the Environment is guided by its definition as “global environmental change and its health impacts” provided by the Planetary Health Alliance, a consortium of more than 400 research and practice institutions. At Washington University in St. Louis, the theme will be broadened to reflect reciprocity in the human health-environment relationship. Themes of research advanced by the Center for the Environment will include environmental health, global health, sustainable urban design, sustainable healthy food systems, nourishing biomes, and the connection between environmental change and infectious disease. Research advances will benefit from a convergent approach that draws on expertise from public health, engineering, ecology, natural and social sciences, and architecture and urban design.

The Centre for Planetary Health Policy (CPHP) was established by the German Alliance on Climate Change and Health (KLUG) in late 2021 to proactively advance scientific policy advice at the nexus of global environmental change and health, and to place Planetary Health at the top of the policy agenda. Our team of researchers from the fields of political, social and health sciences as well as medicine develops application-oriented studies and synthesizes evidence with clear recommendations for action. We then communicate this knowledge through target group specific formats to politicians, scientists and to the professional scientific community and the public. The focus of CPHPs consulting work is on identifying ways in which Planetary Health Policy from the municipal to the international level can be translated into concrete transformation paths. As a link between health professionals, academia and policy makers, the CPHP brings together a wide range of stakeholders in a collaborative process to develop a common understanding of the complex challenges of the multidimensional planetary crises. Together we are working to find and develop sustainable solutions and value-added strategies. Through this multi-stakeholder approach, CPHP aims to create a vision for the future of a resilient, accessible, environmentally friendly, and financially viable health care system that serves as a blueprint and emanates into other sectors.

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare engages healthcare professionals, patients and the wider community in understanding the connections between health and environment, and to reduce healthcare’s resource footprint. As a member of the Planetary Health Alliance, we share learning and resources from our Sustainable Healthcare Education Network, to support the inclusion of Planetary Health in the education of doctors and other health professions.

Centre ValBio was created by Professor Patricia Wright in 2003 to help both indigenous people and the international community better understand the value of conservation in Madagascar and around the world.

The Chair of Planetary & Public Health incorporates Planetary Health in various research and teaching activities. Research includes for example the development of a set of indicators to assess sustainability in hospitals, health impact of climate policies and climate impact of health policies, and research on Planetary Health literacy as well as on Planetary Health education. The organization aims to collaborate with the global Planetary Health community on these and other research activities, and share knowledge and expertise for planetary health literate current and future generations.

The Health Promotion Chair of the University of Girona promotes the study, training, and dissemination in health promotion through the organization of activities, networking, and scientific outreach on a national and international level. Our focus is to do this from a positive health perspective and considering the close interrelationship of health with natural systems. We aim to collaborate with the Planetary Health community with training initiatives in Planetary Health.

Child Family Health International (CFHI) is a United Nations-recognized non-profit organization that provides community-based Global Health Education Programs for students and institutions. CFHI programs allow participants to explore transdisciplinary and integrated approaches in Planetary Health around the world, with a focus on learning how environmental factors affect the health and wellbeing of global communities.

Our organization aims to promote debate and critical reflection on the current link between human beings and the environment and its existence, and how it affects ecology, and the care of people and communities. Contributing, transferring and disseminating the knowledge of nursing science and ecosystems / nature in their holistic dimension, as interdependent elements, which will allow to recover, maintain and promote health in a dignified, equitable way and adjusted to social ethics.
