Heather Castleden is a Professor and Impact Chair in Transformative Governance for Planetary Health at the University of Victoria. She is a white settler researcher with 20 years of experience working in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples on environment, health, and governance matters. Planetary health is important to her because relational accountability to the land and each other is essential to living in a good way. She is a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists and Director of the HEC Lab. As Co-Strategic Director, she brings a decolonial lens to the direction of this inaugural Council.
