
Andrea Copland is the Library Technician at the Planetary Health Alliance where her work centers on equipping users and communities with strategies to navigate complex informational environments and access credible research in the field of Planetary Health. As an informationist, she leverages design thinking to build common-sense discovery and knowledge management tools that help the PHA expand the reach of its mission. Her position is generously funded by the Grace and Harold Sewell Memorial Fund, which supports professional collaboration between scientists, practitioners, administrators, and librarians.
Previously, Andrea worked as a librarian, archivist, and educator, curating multi-modal exhibits, online resources, and interdisciplinary programs to engage new audiences with cutting-edge research. She is the co-author of Unlocking the Digital Age: The Musician’s Guide to Research, Copyright, and Publishing, and is a passionate advocate for open access, digital equity, and media and information literacy.
Andrea earned her MLIS from the University of Denver, and dual master’s degrees from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. Outside of the office, Andrea is a proud dog and cat mom and enjoys running, reading, and moonlighting as a classical musician.
