Welcome to the Planetary Health Alliance! We are delighted to have you join us. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our guidelines to ensure a positive and inclusive experience for all members:

Respect and Focus: Our community is exclusively focused on advancing Planetary Health. Please share your ideas, projects, resources, events, announcements, articles, and any other content relevant to this theme. We value diverse perspectives and encourage respectful dialogue.

Creating a Safe Environment: We are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for all members. This includes:

  • Refraining from making threats, personal attacks, defamation, inflammatory language, derogatory comments, disruptive behavior, physical or emotional abuse, bullying, or profanity.
  • Respecting boundaries and refraining from spamming or posting irrelevant content.
  • Refraining from posting content containing viruses, malware, or spyware.
  • Respecting privacy by refraining from sharing private communications or visuals without consent.
  • Refraining from harassing photography or recording, including online activity logging for harassment.
  • Refraining from making comments related to others’ personal attributes, including gender, race, nationality, religion, and lifestyle.
  • Ensuring that discussions remain inclusive and free from discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, veteran status, or any other characteristic or identity factor.
  • Refraining from indecent or sexually explicit material, sexual harassment, or unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Reporting any instances of harassment or inappropriate behavior promptly to ph_alliance@jhu.edu.

How do I become a member of PHA?

The process for individual and organizational PHA membership is different.

  • All individuals (ages 13+) are accepted as members within the Hylo platform and can therefore begin engaging with the PHA community from day one; simply join the Online Community and follow the instructions! Individual membership > 
  • Mission-aligned organizations must complete an application form that is reviewed monthly. Upon acceptance, organizations and their points-of-contact will be guided into the community. Organizational membership >
Does it cost anything to become a member of PHA?

Membership in the Alliance is free for both individuals and organizations at this time. We encourage all interested parties to join our community!

Is PHA able to directly provide its members with funding?

PHA is not a grant-making organization and does not provide direct financial support or funding to our members.

What is Hylo?

The PHA Online Community is hosted on Hylo, a digital platform to communicate and foster action to regenerate our communities and our planet through online tools designed for grassroots collaboration. Hylo is accessible to all individual and organizational members of PHA. Hylo users can easily find other changemakers according to geography, skills, and interests; share announcements, discussions, events, requests and offers; and start projects and groups to take action for Planetary Health!

What is the best way to share Planetary Health research, opportunities, resources, events, and media with the PHA community?
  • The PHA Online Community is the best way to share opportunities and news directly. Join Hylo to collaborate with others and spread the word about events or updates from your community!
  • Contribute to our monthly newsletter by submitting relevant research & policy, events, opportunities, and news using the newsletter submission form.
  • Follow us on social media. Tag and message us on social media so that we can amplify your message! Our social media account links and handles are in the footer of this website.
  • Present your research, movement building solutions, and more at a PHA event, such as a Member Community Call, our Planetary Health Annual Meeting, and more. Contact us to learn more.
